Last Installment of my February Special

For the last installment, I will be sharing my favorite objects. These are things that I love that I have with me all the time or frequently use.

My Cowboy Boots:
I wear them all the time and if they were black, I would probably wear them more often. The are comfy and casual.

Books:
This is only a portion of the books that I actually own but it conveys my point. I adore books and I would love to have a shelf of my own books someday. My only problem is that I never have enough time to read all the books that I want and with school taking up so much of my time, reading is especially difficult. I have a collection of old books at my house which is my pride and joy.

My Kodak Camera:
I have had cameras in the past but I lost the charger for one (multiple times) and the other one broke in a way that I still do not understand. I got this one for Christmas and I absolutely adore it. I would be completely lost with out it.

My Bed:
Sometimes we take a comfy place to sleep for granted and I absolutely love that the sheets are black. The dark sheets help me sleep better because it makes my sleeping area so much darker.

Crystal Asymmetrical Earrings:
These were one of the first pairs that I ever made and I wear them every other day. They are one of the few things that I own that is asymmetrical and does not bug me to no end. They match with everything!

My Laptop:
I literally do use this everyday and I love finding new stickers to put on the back. It makes me smile inside!

Birthday Cards:
I love birthday cards and so taped them to my mirror so that I can remember that I am loved on a daily basis.

Lifestyle Forecast: Structure

I'm trying out a new structure for these posts that will help me come up with these a bit easier.

Sunday, February 27:
Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the LORD.
 (Song of Solomon 8:6 ESV)

Monday, February 28:
“Look at life through the windshield, not the rear-view mirror.”
Byrd Baggett

Tuesday, March 1:
Try going Gluten Free for a day. No bread, no pasta, and absolutely no flour or malt. It is hard but not as hard as most people think.

Wednesday, March 2:
Give your feet a rest but that does not mean that you have to resort to wearing boring flats. Try some flat boots especially shorter ones. Maybe even take a cue from my daily outfit post a few weeks ago and where some oxford flats.

Thursday, March 3:
Try studying/working in an uncomfortable place or position. The idea is that you will get your work done faster if you want to go somewhere else or move to a different position. I do this by sitting on my floor instead of sitting on my bed where I am more tempted to go to bed.

Friday, March 4:
Go to the beach! It may be super cold but it can be a really fun day with friends. I did it today and had a ton of fun. Maybe even take some cool pictures, find some interesting shells, and (if you are lucky) find a hot, single lifeguard.

Saturday, March 5:
Organize your work space! I am sure that all of our workspaces could not do with sprucing up and de-cluttering. This way, what ever you are working on even if it is a blog, will get done faster and be more organized.

Writing Sample

This poem is based off of a silent film that I saw a couple months ago. What do you think?

The Idiot
I was watching a silent film the other day.
The actors said more than the boundaries of film could express.
The mindless idiot strolls into the frame.
He is content with life until he sees the overworked, attractive woman.
The woman is tired.
The Man’s desire peaked.
Cops see the drool from his mouth and lead him away.
The beat of the music syncing itself with the maladroit man
In the suit jacket and his aloofness worn around his neck like a tie.
I wonder if the make-up artist knows he has put on too much.
Too thick under the eyes.
The cop must run faster to catch him.
He got away.
He is now married.
The cops should have been invited to the wedding.
The End.

My Week In Pictures: Mid Terms

This week was mid term exams at the college and that means much studying with all the students. Considering that I haven't read anything for one of the classes that I have a mid term in, I was freaking out! I tend to drink tea when I get stressed to try to relax me instead of reaching for the chemically-tasting energy drinks. This is one of the many cups and flavors of tea that I drank this week.

For people that are afraid of clowns, I would recommended not looking at the next two pictures! The Room Mate went to camp this weekend and came back with a clown doll. I do not mind clowns but the other day, it was staring at her bed and it was creepy and funny at the same time. Naturally, I had to take pictures!

^ The view from her bed.
V The view from our couch.
Creepy!

It has been getting colder lately and the other day, I dusted off my French Beret and wore it to keep my head warm. I miss Europe every time that I wear it.

Spent time with who this week? This girl right here! :) I adore her.

More photography!

This past Saturday, I attended an Opera for a field trip. We stopped at a Thai place called Daisy Mint that was absolutely delicious. The decor was beautiful and the food was amazing! I ordered the Citron Honey Barley Tea and Panang Curry!

Some of the pictures from the outside of the Opera. I will post more later on Tuesday when I have more time and space to talk about the Opera in detail.

I leave you with a picture that a friend on Facebook shared because its raining and the picture itself is adorable!

Daily Outfit: "Grey is my favorite color."

I feel like I have not done a Daily Outfit post in like two weeks... probably because it has been two weeks since I did a proper Daily Outfit post. Today was a rather bad day but its ok, the day got better later on.

On to the pictures:

While wanting to retreat to my default color which is black, I decided to go with something a little brighter.

Grey! Hey, I did say I little brighter.

I have been playing around quite a bit lately with the small photo shop program on my computer. I cannot upload pictures on my computer from my camera without saturating them. These next few are all products of my new love of photography and photo shopping.

Mega Saturation on this one and it made my tights look purple. Who doesn't love purple?

(even though they are actually grey tights)

Hat and arrow necklace- Handmade by Me
Wolf shirt- Mudd
Jacket-Tilly's
Belt- thrifted
Skirt- Target
Tights- Forever 21
Boots- Swap meet.

What do you think of the arrow necklace? Would you buy one if I started to sell them? My next project will be to make earrings like it. I have a plan for them but have not got around to making them yet. Tell me what you think!

February Special: Lovely People

We all have those people that we look up to and we wish as a little kid that we could be just like them when we grow up. As we grow older, we develop interests and find new people that we love and respect. Today, I will share the people that I admire most in a few short paragraphs (in no particular order).

Gala Darling is my inspiration for Self Love and whimsy in living my life. She inspires me to look at the world with a smile and see the wonderful good that is there in people, in art, and in life. I love her fashion and how motivated she is to speak about living well with radical self love.

Coco Chanel is one of the most glamorous people that I have ever come across with the pearls and beautiful sense of style. This woman represents individuality and girl power and her quotes constantly inspire me when it comes to my dreams.

Miss Evans is my English teacher from high school who was diagnosed with breast cancer my freshmen year. She is so strong and no matter what happens, I know that she will persevere through anything. God has given her enormous strength and it has always been an inspiration. I wish that I could have her strength in God and I think about her all the time.

Jessie J is a singer/song writer that is extremely talented but also dedicated to her music. She wants the music to be real, not some consumer-based media that is solely based on money. She also has an awesome fashion sense especially when she flashes the bejeweled lips.

Last but not least, is a guy from my high school. Out of respect, I will not reveal his name but a kid in my high school committed suicide this past summer. I did not really know him very well except what I found out through my sister who was in his class. He was very funny and had the most interesting style. Throughout high school, there were times when things were rough and I thought about committing suicide. After the funeral of this kid, I realized how much hurt I would have caused people. I wear a purple bracelet every day that has his name inscribed on it. It reminds myself that no matter how bad things are, I am loved and that I should take care of myself. He was always joking and laughing but masked how he really felt but even worse is that he did not reach out. I know that he is missed.

With love and a purple bracelet,

Brittany Sims

Lifestyle Forecast: Glamorous

Sunday, February 20:
Watch a sermon online of a church you like but is rather far away. For me, I’m at college which means that I cannot go to my home church as often as I would like. However, my church has sermons online which is what I watched today because I accidentally slept through my alarm.

Monday, February 21:
Read some philosophy books or articles today. I have to because I have philosophy class on Mondays but who doesn’t need some deep thought every once in a while. Feeling Brave? Try Plato. Need some more basic ideas? Try Peter Kreeft. :) You readers can do it! I believe in you.

Tuesday, February 22:
Drink only water today. While I of all people know that soda is really easy to reach for and the fruit juices are sweeter, water is what your body needs but does not always get the amount that it should. You will find that you will have more energy… that’s your body thanking you for the hydration.

Wednesday, February 23:
Everyone needs to feel glamorous so dress up today. Look up pictures of Coco Chanel or other glamorous people! Break out the heels, the dress that makes you look good, and some good perfume. Say “I am beautiful” in the mirror to yourself at least twice today!

Thursday, February 24:
Plan to see a play or opera this weekend. Look up the shows that are showing in your area and go to one of them. It doesn’t have to be a Broadway production because some of the best plays can be small town indie productions. This is also a great opportunity for you to get involved in your community.

Friday, February 25:
Have a night on the town tonight! Grab you party clothes and get out of your lonely bedroom. If you took my advice for Thursday, dress classy for the play. If not, embrace tonight and dress in your most comfortable party clothes. (Who wants to party in a dress that pinches or jeans that are so tight that you cannot breathe in)

Saturday, February 26:
It is time to edit those photos that are sitting on your computer’s hard drive that you have been leaving in a dusty folder. Many times, you are on vacation or have the urge to take a bunch of pictures with your friends and you think that you can edit them later. I bet that most of the time, you forget about them or life catches up with you meaning that there are not enough hours in the day. I am guilty of this too. If you do not already have a photo shop program on your computer, there is always picnic.com

"The Masquerade"

Hey all, this is Brittany's best friend signing on to help out Brit. She's at the opera, but wanted to share a poem with her readers so she texted me and asked if I'd post one for her. Enjoy! (she's an awesome writer)

The Masquerade
by Brittany Sims

Here at the Masquerade,
Everyone must dance.
The Rules are to always be obeyed.

Gentlemen, find a willing Maid
Take hold of yourself and advance.
Do not be afraid.

Keep the tempo, it must not be delayed.
Men, do not prance!
The Rules must be obeyed.

A manly pursuit is this crusade,
No need to go about it like in a hypnotic trance,
Here at the Masquerade.

Like a gentleman game in an arcade
Or you are planted in a gothic romance,
The rules must be obeyed.

Gentlemen, now that you are unafraid,
Ask a pretty lady and take a chance.
Here at the Masquerade,
The Rules must be obeyed.

My Week In Pictures: Little Tokyo

I talked about my trip to Little Tokyo yesterday but I wanted to show some of the massive amount of pictures that I took while going on the trip. I was a bit of a photography nut yesterday and I am sure that I was bugging the people on the metro with my constant picture snapping. :)

(This is a VERY picture heavy post)

I got to go home with Chelsea and saw my High School buddies! I miss them soooooo much! I was to sit in on a couple of my old philosophy classes! I ended up being in three Philosophy classes that day because I came back to school and had to attend my actual class that was for credit! What can I say? I love Philosophy!

My lovely Valentine's date! Ain't she beautiful??? (Hey guys, she's single :P )

Cute little me!

We went Islands where I ordered the Hawaiian burger. Chelsea also had fun getting in my pictures! I pretty much devoured my burger and I felt like I looked like such a pig. In my defense, the burger was very messy and sliding off of itself.

I found a Raisinet in my bag that was heart-shaped. I made sure to eat this one with particular love because it was the epitome of all things love-ly. :P

As I have said, I took a trip to Little Tokyo and above is my Metro ticket because I was super excited!

One of my many pictures from the Metro ride there. I love when pictures have depth to them like this one.

I was in time crunch which meant that I did not take to many pictures while I was there. I went to the market there and a Mochi shop. After I bought some snacks, I left because I wanted to make sure that I was back on campus in time for class.

Me again! I got to wear some of my homemade earrings because I was actually wearing green. For some reason, I have made quite a few pairs of green earrings even though I have very few green articles of clothing.

Metro Station and another experiment in photography!

I loved the skyline in this picture! I would love to paint a monochromatic version of this sometime.

How was your week? Do anything interesting?

with love, rocking music, and Chelsea,

Brittany Sims

Everyday Lovelies: Little Tokyo

Last night, I received an e-mail from my English Professor saying that he was sick and that we would not be having class today. Thursdays are the days in which I do not have class until 1:55. With no English class, I did not have class until 3:20. As I was getting ready today after sleeping in, I decided to take a spur of the moment trip to Little Tokyo. My roommate had gotten these red bean paste mochi pastry-type things a couple weeks ago that I have been craving ever since and I was determined to get some. I left with my lunch and camera to the Metro station which is a half hour walk from campus. The whole day was really fun and I made it back in time for my only class of the day.

Tea <3 Serious Talks With Friends <3 Spice Tea Made By My Mother <3 Watching 300 With Chelsea <3 Healthy Food That Tastes Good <3 Good Mexican Food <3 Naked Juice <3 Getting Shot With Naked Juice (my juice spilled and it left an imprint on my shirt that looked like I had gotten shot) <3 Dangle Earrings <3 Walking <3 Spending Valentine’s Day With My Wonderful Date (Chelsea) <3 Pineapple <3 Throwing Pieces Of Paper With Chelsea At A Restaurant <3  Organizing My Room <3 X-men First Class Trailer <3 Taking Pictures <3 Metro Rides <3 Red Bean Paste Mochi <3 My Letterman’s Jacket <3 Playing Basketball (as much as I complain about it) <3 White Bean Paste Mochi <3

I am so excited for this weekend as Saturday I am going painting with the Art club and going to an Opera for a school field trip. The opera is a chance for me to dress up a bit and we will have time to talk to the director. Hopefully, I can conduct an interview for my blog which means I have to start preparing questions.

With love and Mochi,

Brittany Sims

Daily Outfit: Being sick is not fun!

Lately, I have been staying up late the past few nights working on homework.

Last night was no exception. There was, however, the terrible feeling that I woke up to this morning. My whole body hurt and I ended up not waking up until early this afternoon. After I woke up, I have been having sore throat, a tad bit of trouble breathing, and am currently starting to get a headache. Needless to say that I do not have the energy to go out and take pictures (especially when I was in my pj's most of the day).

To make things worse, its raining here off and on pretty hard.

Never fear, I have some meat for this post.

My room mate, Marissa, got me into sweaters. Over Christmas break, I thrifted one and it was worth every penny. I took some pictures of myself over break and I wanted to show you guys.

Cowboy boots, NCIS, and a decorated Christmas tree! How could it get any better than that?

*really close up picture*

Sweater- thrifted
Grey T-shirt- K-mart
Jeans- Kohl's
Boots- Christmas Present (but they were from Kohl's too)

with love and probably a cold,

Brittany Sims

I Love People!

I wanted to share some of my favorite people today especially since it is the day of love!

Chelsea Leigh:

Danielle Yett:

Marissa Sumire (my lovely room mate) and my other quad mates:

I had an amazing night with Chelsea tonight as we both we single this Valentine's day, we decided to have fun and be each other's valentines. We walked around 3 miles to Islands and both ordered burgers. The night was filled with much laughter and paper throwing.

I also love my parents, my siblings, and God but I figured that those were obvious. :)

with love and much more love,

Brittany Sims
